We had a great turn out for ‘Building your UX career’ at Workday. The evening started with refreshments and tasty food provided by Workday. Guests could sign up to be brought on a tour of the Workday user testing facilities and creative space. The evening was focused on giving guests insights and advice on how to develop their UX careers. There was eights speakers that gave talks at the event. Mary O’Gorman, a founder of UXtomorrow, begun the evening by introducing Bill Fogarty, UX product manager from Workday. He gave a few words and introduced six Workday speakers. Neil Fletcher & Ben Taylor, started with tips from interaction designers. Christos Kastriti & Stella Curley gave tips from UI Designers and David Gottlieb & Rebecca Nolan gave tips from Researchers.
After Workday speakers gave there talks Marie Hedigan, a founder of UXtomorrow, introduced the two guest speakers of the night. Pavitra Tandon gave a talk about ‘The UX gold rush’. She gave insights into UX traits, skills, challenges and progression. Pavitra encouraged the audience engagement with a fun exercise. There was a lot of heart shapes in the audience which was nice to see. Robert Coyle gave a talk ”Building a UX Career: The Hard Way’. His talk gave insights into progression, possible career paths, inspiration and self learning. His talk was directed towards mid-level to senior designer but with plenty of insights for designers that were trying to break into the UX field.

After the talks UXtomorrow were delighted to give away prizes thanks to sponsorship from UXtraining.com. A prize was given to top tweet on the night and to some lucky raffle winners. Guests had time to chat to the speakers and meet people that came to the event. There was plenty of food and refreshments for guests.
